Description

The Brewista Tornado Duo is a double-wall glass dripper with 18 spirally ribbed inner channels — the distinctive 'Tornado' rib geometry slows the pour-over extraction, giving your coffee more body and sweetness while keeping the cup clean.

The double-wall insulated construction holds brew temperature throughout the extraction — unlike single-wall glass or plastic drippers, where heat escapes quickly during the brew. Result: more even extraction on every shot, no temperature drop in the final seconds.

The 18 tornado ribs create a slight spiral water flow between the filter and the dripper wall. This extends water-coffee contact minimally and delivers an aromatic, robust cup — ideal for medium and darker roasts and single-origin cuppings that want more mouthfeel. Sealed, smooth surface rinses clean under hot water.

Available in Size 1 (123 × 116 mm, 290 g) for 1–2 cup pour-over and Size 2 (135 × 130 mm, 400 g) for 2–4 cups. Both sizes work with standard pour-over paper filters and common glass/ceramic servers.

Tipps für die erste Tasse

Pre-heat: rinse with hot water once before brewing — warms the dripper and ensures full extraction temperature from the first drop.

For maximum tornado effect: pour water in slow concentric spirals — the flow then follows the inner ribs and maximizes the spiral effect.

Care for the glass: rinse under hot water after each use. For coffee oil stains, run Cafetto Brew Clean Powder through once a month — removes baked-on residue.

Which size is right?

Size 1 (1–2 cups) for single-serve in the morning or focused solo tasting. Size 2 (2–4 cups) if you regularly brew for housemates or guests, or like batch brewing. Both have the same tornado rib geometry and deliver the same flavor profile — the choice is purely volume.

Which paper filters fit?

Standard cone filters (V60 format) fit both sizes. Size 1 takes a V60-01 filter, Size 2 a V60-02 filter — both universally available from Hario, Cafec or others. Before the first brew, rinse the filter with hot water as usual.

How does the Tornado differ from a classic V60?

The V60 has straight spiral ribs that optimize water flow — the Tornado Duo has 18 ribs in a slight spiral pattern, which slows extraction further. Result: tends toward more body and sweetness compared to the V60, which typically highlights clarity and acidity.

Double-wall glass — is it really necessary?

Yes, significantly. Single-wall glass or plastic loses noticeable heat during the 3–4-minute extraction — the last seconds brew cooler. That shifts the acid–bitter balance. The double wall holds temperature across the entire extraction.
