Warum es sich lohnt

The right brush for every spot

The right brush for every spot

One brush isn't enough for the whole coffee bar. Long Neck reaches into the narrow C40 hopper, MAX #2 sweeps the entire grinder bed, Beard #3 fits into the burr chamber, and #5 with steel bristles loosens baked-on espresso residue. Eight brushes — every point of the grinder/machine setup taken care of.

Horse hair protects materials

Horse hair protects materials

Brushes #1 through #4 and #6 use horse hair — fine enough that coatings, steel surfaces and anodized aluminum don't get scratched. Unlike plastic bristles, horse hair doesn't build up static charge and doesn't pull fine particles back onto the surface.

Stainless steel for the stubborn

Stainless steel for the stubborn

Brush #5 has stainless-steel bristles — the grabber for baked-on espresso crusts on the group head screen, stuck coffee oils on burr edges, or limescale shadows on the steam wand tip. What horse hair won't hold, steel will.

The Comandante Brush Family covers every cleaning and care task around your grinder and espresso setup — from fine grinder dusting to portafilter bed sweeping.

Every brush is made in Germany, with pear, beech, or oak wood handles and natural horse hair or stainless-steel bristles. Eight models, one purpose: remove grounds, chaff and espresso-puck residue from your setup cleanly, without damaging the material.

  • #3 Beard Brush — compact brush for the grinder chamber and tight gaps.

Tipps für die erste Tasse

After every bean swap run Long Neck #6 through the C40 hopper once — prevents flavor carryover from the previous variety. Five seconds of effort, a much clearer cup.

The MAX #2 lasts longer if you store it standing between uses (bristles up) — keeps the hair from settling to one side.

Don't use the stainless-steel brush #5 on the burr chamber — even minimal steel shavings in the coffee are unpleasant. Keep #5 on the espresso setup; everything in the grind path belongs to the horse-hair brushes.

Häufige Fragen

Deine Frage ist nicht dabei? Schreib uns an support@baristadelight.de.

Which brush do I need for my Comandante C40?
For daily C40 care: #6 Long Neck reaches into the narrow bean hopper and pulls grounds out of the chamber; #3 Beard is small enough for the burr chamber and the area under the hopper. For all-around espresso setup care: #1 Barista or #2 MAX. If you run a sieve machine: add #5 Stainless for baked-on espresso residue.
What's the difference between pear, oak and beech on the #2 MAX?
Functionally identical — the three woods are a pure aesthetic choice. Pear has the classic Comandante look (same tone as the C40 knobs), oak is lighter with a strong grain, beech is neutral and matches any coffee-bar color. All three are solid, food-safely treated and the same size.
How do I take care of the brushes themselves?
Rinse horse-hair brushes gently with water every so often and let them air-dry — don't soak them, or the wooden handle will swell. The stainless-steel #5 can take a bit more, including some dish soap if needed. Rub the wooden handles occasionally with a drop of Comandante Wood Balm — it prevents drying and cracking.
Can I use the stainless-steel #5 on the burr?
On steel burrs (Comandante Nitro Blade, Red Clix RX35) yes — it doesn't damage the hardened steel. On ceramic burrs or coated ones, use with more care — stainless steel can attack coatings. When in doubt, prefer the horse-hair brushes.
