The C40 safe on the road

The Comandante C40 is precise — and accordingly sensitive. A bump in the backpack, a knock against the sink edge: there goes your axle alignment. The Travel Bag pads the grinder on all sides and gives it a firm, dedicated compartment. For travel, camp, or competition table.

Bean Jars, brushes and cupping spoon — all in

Inside there are loops for one large or two regular Bean Jars, a flat pocket for brushes and cupping spoon, and a main compartment for the grinder. Take your whole brewing setup along without everything clattering in the pack.

Description

The Comandante Travel Bag is the padded premium tote for your Comandante grinder and full brewing setup on the road — developed by the manufacturer itself, with robust cotton canvas inside and out, padded main panels, premium Italian leather at the handles and straps, and a sturdy YKK zipper.

Inside you'll find a dedicated pocket for your Comandante C40, a loop for one large or two regular Bean Jars, and a flat pocket for cupping spoon, brushes and small tools. Compact on the outside, surprisingly spacious inside.

Available as Standard Black with matte black leather (220 × 230 × 60 mm, 230 g) or as the larger XL Forest variant with Italian oil pull-up leather and about 3 l of volume (250 × 220 × 60 mm, 315 g).

Tipps für die erste Tasse

Rub the bag with leather care when new — extends the lifespan of the handles considerably and protects against the first water marks.

The Forest variant develops patina on the leather with use — that's intentional and makes each bag unique. Don't polish away the first scratches and creases.

Dry storage is important — canvas and leather don't take long-term moisture well. After a trip with a wet bag, always let it air-dry open.

What's the difference between Standard Black and XL Forest?

XL Forest is slightly larger (250 × 220 × 60 mm vs. 220 × 230 × 60 mm), with about 3 l of internal volume and 85 g heavier. It also uses oil pull-up leather, which develops a characteristic patina with use, and the inner pockets are more flexibly divided. Standard Black is the compact, low-key variant with matte black leather — both premium materials, same maker, same padding level.

Does my Comandante C60 Baracuda fit too?

The Travel Bag is primarily designed for the C40 series (MK3/MK4). The C60 Baracuda is slightly larger in diameter and won't fit the padded grinder pocket without pressure. There's no official solution for the C60 in the Comandante lineup — you'd need to use the XL Travel Bag and skip the dedicated padded pocket.

Is the bag rain-resistant?

The canvas is water-repellent treated — light drizzle or a short shower won't hurt. It's not waterproof in the sense of „rain-through-proof" or „submersible", though. For longer wet exposure: put the bag in a drybag or use a rain cover.

What fits in the Standard Black?

C40 grinder in the padded pocket + 1× Bean Jar Large in the loop or 2× Polymer Bean Jars (40 g) + brushes and cupping spoon in the flat pocket. For more equipment (brewer, filter, carafe) go with the XL Forest.
