Description

The Origami Dripper S Rinko is a limited porcelain edition from the ORIGAMI with Makers Project – inspired by Beppu bamboo craft and the way bamboo changes colour over time.

The project's second chapter brings Mino porcelain together with the bamboo craft of Beppu in Oita Prefecture. The name comes from rinko-ami, a traditional weaving technique of overlapping circular arcs – light, strong and open to light and air.

Fresh bamboo starts pale green or soft beige and slowly turns amber, golden brown and finally deep earthy brown with light and air. That's exactly the gradient the Rinko glaze shows. Koyo Ceramics spent around two years developing it; a kiln-changing glaze and a spray finish create soft transitions and depth, so every piece turns out a little different.

Brewing works like with any Origami dripper: the 20 folds inside create air channels and clean drainage. With a cone filter the coffee flows faster and the cup is clear, with a wave filter the bed is flatter and the cup rounder. Made for 1–2 cups. A holder is strongly recommended for a stable setup and sold separately.

Tipps für die erste Tasse

A glass server shows off the warm bamboo tones of the glaze especially well.

Pick cone filters for a clear, bright cup and wave filters when you want more body.

Rinse dripper and filter with hot water before brewing so the porcelain doesn't pull too much heat.

Häufige Fragen

Deine Frage ist nicht dabei? Schreib uns an support@baristadelight.de.

What does Rinko mean?
Rinko-ami is a traditional Beppu bamboo weaving technique of overlapping circular arcs. The edition is named after it.
Where does the colour come from?
It recreates how bamboo darkens with light and air from soft beige to amber, golden brown and deep earthy brown.
Does every dripper look the same?
No. The glaze reacts in the kiln, so tone, gradient and surface vary – that's part of the edition, not a defect.
Do I need a holder?
Yes, a holder is strongly recommended. It keeps the dripper stable and stops it sitting too deep in the server or cup.
