Tipps für die erste Tasse

Clip the brown cloth directly to your apron strap — on every milk pour, wipe the steam wand immediately without reaching for a cloth. A café-pace booster.

Store cloths stacked after every wash rather than crumpled — they dry faster and pick up fewer odors.

If a cloth smells of milk, pre-wash it with a touch of Cafetto MFC Green — removes milk protein residue that standard detergent doesn't catch.

Which cloth is for what?

Standard café practice: brown clip cloth (30 × 60 cm) for steam wand and milk zone, green cloth (30 × 30 cm) for machine surfaces and counters, the two blue cloths (20 × 20 cm) for detail areas like group head rim, basket and drip tray. The color coding prevents milk and machine zones from mixing — important for hygiene.

How do I wash the cloths correctly?

Normal colored wash (e.g. 40–60 °C), only with lint-free items (so not together with towels or T-shirts). Skip fabric softener — it coats the microfiber and reduces absorbency. Remove the clip from the brown cloth before washing.

How often should I rotate / wash the cloths?

Café operation: daily, at minimum at end of shift. Home use: into the wash pile after every brew session and washed every 2–3 days at the latest — longer and milk and water residue stay in the fiber and develop odor. Replace immediately on visible stains.

How long do the cloths last?

With proper care (machine wash, no fabric softener) typically 6–12 months of heavy café use. Cue: when absorbency drops noticeably or the fiber feels roughened up, they're spent — time to replace.
